About Marie Klaban

It has been said that music is the “language of the soul,” and if that is the case, then music has been speaking to me my entire life. My desire to express myself vocally began as a young child in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I sang in our church youth choir and in elementary school. I sang my first solo (“My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music!) in third grade at my elementary school’s talent show. The need to express myself through singing continued into high school where I sang with the elite Acappella Choir. After college and marriage, I became a cantor at St. Michael’s Catholic church, where I sang for regular church services as well as funeral, memorial, and wedding services.

Ten years later (1991) we moved to West Bloomfield, Michigan where I was immediately drawn to the music ministry at St. Patrick’s in White Lake. I have been a cantor there ever since, also singing for their special musical productions, as well as funeral, memorial and wedding services. It’s also been my privilege to sing for other, non-Catholic services around the metro-Detroit area.

Throughout my years of singing, I have become very aware of the impact that beautiful music has on a service, and how much it is appreciated by those who are in attendance. Music truly is the “language of the soul,” and it is my greatest desire to bring that beauty, joy, or sense of peace to your special service.
